Over the weekend, U.S. soccer star Megan Rapinoe suffered a major injury during the final match of her career in the National Women's Soccer League Championship between O.L. Reign and Gotham FC. Rapinoe said that she believes that the injury was a torn Achilles. She was taken out of the game early on in the sixth minute and was not able to rejoin the game. Following the wipeout and the team's defeat, she held a press conference where she explained that there wasn't a God because she was taken out so early.
"I'm not a religious person or anything, and if there was a god, like, this is proof that there isn't," Rapinoe said. "This is f---ed up. It's just f---ed up. Six minutes in, and I eat my Achilles." She went on to explain that she is going to get the "Aaron Rodgers treatment" and reach out to him or the surgeon who worked on the quarterback.
"Everyone is always like, 'Who kicked me?' And obviously, no one was even around me, and I was pressing," Rapinoe said about the injury, according to The Seattle Times. "That's what it felt like. Just a huge pop and I can't even feel where the Achilles is, but pretty sure I tore my Achilles. The worst possible outcome."
"Thank God I have a f---ing deep well of a sense of humor," she said, as reported by Fox News. "It's devastating to go out in a final so early."
The 38-year-old has faced considerable criticism from conservative Americans after she has repeatedly disrespected the country, kneeled during the National Anthem, and supported transgender athletes participating in women's sports. Perhaps her most embarrassing career moment took place in August when she missed the game-winning penalty kick in the World Cup against Sweden.
After her abysmal performance in the World Cup, Rapinoe spoke with a reporter about what her favorite memories were about being on the U.S. soccer team, to which the liberal, blue-haired activist responded, "Equal pay...This team has always fought for more, and that's been the most rewarding part for me, of course... to know that we've used our really special talent to do something that's really changed the world forever. I think that means the most to me."

Rapinoe's career will end the same way that it started: with division. For some, she will be remembered as the U.S. Women's team captain who led the United States to victory in the 2019 World Cup, while to others, she will be seen as a progressive activist using her platform to push woke causes. Either way, her career came to an end in unideal circumstances.
