On Wednesday, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson released his latest interview with country music star Jason Aldean, best known for the hit song "Try That In A Small Town." Carlson's hour-long discussion with the musician covered several topics, including his music career, his thoughts on President Trump and Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), the 2017 Las Vegas shooting, and his songwriting process.
During the discussion, Aldean explained that he began to get more political once Donald Trump was first elected in 2016. "I didn't think anybody thought he would win, and for the next eight years, it's been nothing but trying to slander this guy," Aldean explained. "We just started kind of speaking out about that stuff and how we felt about it. We got invited to Mar-a-Lago for New Year's...never met him. Never talked to him." Aldean then explained that he played golf and had lunch with the 45th president.
"We had no intentions of getting political or any of those things. It just kind of happened. Like I said, the last eight years just watching what happened. Going through 2020, the election stuff, the BLM stuff, and the COVID vaccine. Just watching all of that stuff go down like what is going on right now, it's crazy. Obviously, having little kids made us get more involved. We started paying attention to what was happening," he explained, adding that he doesn't vote for the person but votes for the candidate's policies.
