WATCH: Trump Senior Advisor Humiliates CBS Host After Claiming Trump Wants To Prosecute Political Opponents

Before the presidential debate on Tuesday evening, Trump's senior advisor, Tim Murtaugh, sat down with CBS News in Philadelphia to discuss the presidential campaign and a recent Truth Social post from President Trump that explained that he would ensure that legal consequences are carried out if there are any meddling in the 2024 election.

"I, together with many Attorneys and Legal Scholars, am watching the Sanctity of the 2024 Presidential Election very closely because I know, better than most, the rampant Cheating and Skullduggery that has taken place by the Democrats in the 2020 Presidential Election," Trump posted. "It was a Disgrace to our Nation! Therefore, the 2024 Election, where Votes have just started being cast, will be under the closest professional scrutiny and, WHEN I WIN, those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law, which will include long term prison sentences so that this Depravity of Justice does not happen again. We cannot let our Country further devolve into a Third World Nation, AND WE WON'T! Please beware that this legal exposure extends to Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials. Those involved in unscrupulous behavior will be sought out, caught, and prosecuted at levels, unfortunately, never seen before in our Country."

In response to the post, the CBS News host suggested that wanting to go after those who violate election law is an attempt to undermine the integrity of the election. "First of all, the premise of that question presupposes that certain people are okay with people breaking election law and I don't really think that's the case. If people break election law, they should be prosecuted," Murtaugh said, adding that it shouldn't be controversial to prosecute individuals for breaking election laws.

"But talking about extending it to legal teams and donors, it suggested the idea of prosecuting political opponents," the CBS host stated.

"If you are going to ask a question about someone prosecuting political opponents and don't mention that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' Department of Justice are currently, at this moment, prosecuting Donald Trump, then it's not an honest and forthright conversation," the Trump advisor stated. "Currently, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and the Department of Justice are currently engaged in a prosecution that could end up with them trying to sentence Donald Trump to jail. The way you asked that question, it's as though that's not even happening. But it is happening."

He went on to explain that the attorney general, who appointed special counsel Jack Smith to investigate Trump, is under the direction of President Biden and Vice President Harris. "The attorney general is not part of the Constitution as some sort of internal officer. The attorney general is a member of the executive branch over which Joe Biden and Kamala Harris preside. That's inescapable."
