WATCH: JD Vance SLAMS 'Border Czar' Kamala Harris During Visit To The Southern Border As Democrats Do Damage Control

On Thursday, Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance (R-OH) traveled to the southern border in Cochise County, Arizona, to contrast Trump's record on the US-Mexico border with that of the Biden-Harris administration. Vance repeatedly cited President Biden's decision to reverse several Trump border policies on his first day in office and blamed Kamala Harris, who was put in charge of handling immigration by Biden, for refusing to stem the tide throughout the Biden presidency.

"It's unbelievable what we're letting happen at the southern border, and it's because Kamala Harris refuses to do her job," Vance said. "They stopped deportations on Day One. They stopped construction of the border wall on Day One...They reinstated catch-and-release, and they stopped Remain-in-Mexico...these policies cause real human beings to suffer."

"You've got to stop catch-and-release, you've got to force asylum seekers to stay in Mexico while their claims are being adjudicated, and you've got to finish this border wall and reimplement deportations," Vance explained. "If people could come into this country, and they know they're never going to be deported, you effectively have an open border. That's what Kamala Harris promised. That's what Kamala Harris did."

Despite the Biden-Harris administration's plethora of failures on the southern border, Democrats have attempted to convince the American people that the vice president actually has a successful record on illegal immigration. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) argued that Harris should be applauded because illegal crossings are down. "It's an easy, winning argument: Border crossings are lower today than when Trump left office," he wrote on X. "As VP, Harris was put in charge of reducing migration from Central America. Within two years, it declined 50%. Harris supported the bipartisan border security bill. Trump killed it."

The Harris campaign has also attempted to convince the public that Harris is better on immigration than Trump. A recent campaign ad claimed that Harris supports increasing the number of border agents, putting new technology on the border to block fentanyl, and spending more money to stop human traffickers, all while arguing that Trump did the exact opposite during his term.

Vice President Kamala Harris isn't fooling any American into thinking she is a better choice for a secure border than President Trump. Recent polling has shown that voters overwhelmingly trust Trump more on immigration and the southern border than Harris and Vance's trip to the border proves the GOP's dedication to solving the crisis.
