On Wednesday, President Joe Biden concluded his visit to his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania following a campaign event centered around advocating for tax increases on wealthy Americans. Before boarding Air Force one, however, Biden told a bizarre, untrue story about how his uncle, Ambrose Finnegan, died in World War II.
"I called him Uncle Bozey. He was shot down. He was in the Army Air Corps before there was an Air Force. He flew a single-engine plane, reconnaissance flights, over New Guinea. He volunteered because someone couldn't make it. He got shot down in an area where there were a lot of cannibals in New Guinea at the time," Biden said. "They never recovered his body, but the government went back when I went down there, and they checked and found part of the plane and the like."
After attempting to claim that his uncle was potentially eaten by cannibals, Biden then attempted to connect the story to Trump. The president told reporters that he brought up the story because he was thinking about a debunked story that Trump called veterans "a bunch of suckers and losers" during a visit to France.
President Biden has developed an infamous reputation for lying to the American public about the central facts, so his life and his embellishment of his uncle's death is yet another example. 2nd Lt. Ambrose J. Finnegan, Jr. was shot down over the Pacific aboard an A-20 bomber with three crew. He was not the pilot but instead a passenger on the aircraft, and they were not shot down but instead experienced engine trouble and crashed into the sea. Finnegan was never seen again and was deemed Missing In Action (MIA) by the U.S. Army.
The 81-year-old Democrat has proven time and time again that he is willing to embellish his life story to attempt to impress the American people. Whether it's lying about his law school performance, plagiarizing speeches, launching his campaign on the false claim that Trump said that there were good people on both sides of the Charlottesville riot in 2017, or lying about how his uncle died, President Biden has developed a reputation that he can't shake.
Biden's visit to Scranton was just the first stop on his tour through the Keystone State, with a stop in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday to make a campaign pitch to union workers at U.S. Steel. He advocated for tripling tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum imports, increasing the tariff from 7.5 percent to 22.5 percent.
