From the courtroom to the campaign trail, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump proved on Tuesday that he can electrify an audience wherever he goes. The most recent example took place in New York City following the second day of the hush money case brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) when Trump visited a Harlem bodega in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood.
Trump was welcomed to the Sanaa Convenient Store, formerly the Blue Moon Convenient Store, by scores of cheering New Yorkers who shouted, "We love Trump" and "Four more years!" Trump met with co-owner Maad Ahmed and small business activist Francisco Marte, per The New York Post. The location is central to one of Trump's key campaign pillars: law and order. The bodega was the sight of a brutal assault of 61-year-old store clerk Jose Alba, who ended up killing his attacker, ex-convict Austin Simon, in self-defense. The district attorney's office brought charges against Alba following the incident, but after immense public backlash, the charges were dropped, and the assaulted store clerk sued the city.
"This is a very exciting time for me because the bodegas association invited me. And I respect them, and they respect me. They want law and order; they have tremendous crime, tremendous crime over there, stores are being robbed," Trump said. "New York's a lot different. And we'll work with the mayor. We will work with the governor. And we'll bring a lot of federal money, but we have to go straight out of New York. And that includes crime."
When reporters asked how the city could solve the rampant crime that is affecting small business owners like Ahmed, Trump explained that the city needs to get out of the way of the NYPD, which is trying to do its job. "Every week, they're being robbed two or three times; it's crazy. You know what? The police can stop it, but they have to be allowed to do their job. You have to stop crime, and we're going to let the police do their job. They have to be given back their authority. We're making a big play in New York. I love this city, and it's gotten so bad in the last three years, four years, and we're going to straighten New York out," Trump said. "Alvin Bragg does nothing; he goes after guys like Trump who did nothing wrong. Violent killers and murderers … There are hundreds of murderers all over the city; they [authorities] know who they are, and they don't pick them up. They go after Trump."

It is only Day 2 of this show trial, and President Trump is already breaking the internet by visiting Jose Alba's bodega.
Alba was shipped to Rikers Island by Bragg after acting in self-defense.
