On Wednesday, two climate activists entered the Rotunda of the National Archives in Washington, D.C., and poured pink powder on themselves and the case protecting the U.S. Constitution.
"This country was founded on the condition that all men are created equally, endowed with inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We are calling for all people to have all these rights," one of the climate activists said. "Not just wealthy, white men. We all deserve clean air, water, food, and a liveable climate."
The activists, quickly surrounded by police, then called upon Biden to take renewed action to fight climate change. "Right now, there are millions of climate refugees," one of the protesters said, adding that the president needs to declare a climate emergency.
Police quickly escorted the other visitors out of the rotunda and closed off public access. The two protesters were then taken to the ground and arrested. It is unclear as of this report whether or not the powder damaged the Constitution.
