On Monday, it was announced that Tucker Carlson will be leaving Fox News with the host’s final show being last Friday, April 21st.
“Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” the network said in a statement, according to Forbes.
“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” Fox continued in its statement. “Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday, April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.”
It was still up in the air as to who would replace Tucker Carlson for his 8 pm EST slot, however, it was revealed at the start of the show that Brian Kilmeade was the first of Fox News‘s personalities to take the airwaves for the primetime slot.
To begin the show, now dubbed ‘Fox News Tonight,’ Kilmeade said, “Welcome everyone to ‘Fox News Tonight,’ I am Brian Kilmeade.”
“As you probably have heard, Fox News and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. I wish Tucker the best. I’m great friends with Tucker and always will be,” Kilmeade said to the audience.
“But right now, it is time for ‘Fox News Tonight,'” he concluded before jumping into his first segment.

It seems like Kilmeade is trying his best to gloss over the loss of Fox News‘s biggest personality as the company saw nearly a billion dollars in market cap losses on Monday after news broke of Tucker’s departure.
As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Carlson’s ouster was pushed by Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch.
Murdoch was apparently concerned over Carlson’s coverage of January 6th after his blockbuster investigation into the events of that day earlier this year.
In Carlson’s coverage, the former Fox host shined a light on the various narratives pushed by the House Select Committee on January 6th and the Democrat Party in order to malign conservatives.
The decision to have Carlson leave the network was apparently not related to the recent $787 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems.
While it is still uncertain what Carlson’s future will be, it is likely that he will be successful in whatever he decides to pursue.
