On Monday, anti-Israel protesters breached a perimeter security fence constructed around the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago on Monday leading to confrontations with police. Dozens of demonstrators, many of whom covered their faces, were seen breaking through the fence and confronting riot police as they attempted to shut down the convention.
The demonstrators, while shouting "Whose streets? Our streets!", broke into the DNC perimeter at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Wolcott Avenue, about two blocks from where the convention is taking place in the United Center. Demonstrators attempted to break through the second fence but were confronted by police with riot gear.
"Law enforcement personnel are currently on-scene, and more information will be provided when available," a spokesman for the city of Chicago said, per Reuters. Despite dozens of individuals breaching the outer perimeter, police only made four arrests.
