Democrat-Led Upstate New York County Changes Tune On Migrants Following String Of Sex Crimes

Upstate New York Democrats are beginning to turn against their once strong pro-migrant views with Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz saying that they’re now refusing any more migrants from the overwhelmed New York City after two incidents of sexual assault occurred at hotels housing the illegals.

According to Spectrum News, Poloncarz said the policy reversal comes from “trust and good faith” being betrayed as hotels are becoming more unsafe. He said the DocGo, a contractor hired by the New York City mayor’s administration, “may have interfered” with the police investigation of the second sexual assault incident, though it is far from the first complaint leveled against the contractor.

“I demanded Mayor [Eric] Adams pause all further transportation of asylum seekers to our community until such time as we can resolve all security issues,” the county executive said on Saturday. “He agreed and informed me they will not send any additional persons to Erie County at this time. We also discussed the need for a new and improved security plan.”

Officials are now looking to remove the estimated 540 illegals that are currently being housed in the Erie County hotels.

“Erie County opened its arms to try to welcome these new Americans. Unfortunately, we believe we can’t make the program, as it is presently run, sustainable without significant changes,” Poloncarz said. “Our refugee agencies did their best to provide support and assistance. But our community’s trust and good faith has been betrayed.”

The two incidents of sexual assault involved a man from Venezuela that was sent by New York City, raping a woman directly in front of a 3-year-old child at a Cheektowaga hotel. The second incident occurred just a few days later when a migrant from the Democratic Republic of the Congo sexually assaulted a hotel employee within the same city. Both men have since been arrested.

Police Chief for Cheektowaga, Brian Gould, commented on the matter, saying, “I’m asking for the immediate discontinued use of the Best Western hotel on Dingens Street. The hotel is located in a residential neighborhood and is causing not only safety concerns to nearby residents but also quality-of-life issues. I’m calling for extra funding to cover overtime shifts so that we can increase police presence in the community around the hotels.”

It’s sad seeing innocent people getting caught in the crossfire of liberal policies. Neither woman deserved the unfortunate fate they found but the politicians at play prioritize the needs of non-citizens who only siphon resources from America over her own people.
