New Poll Shows Trump Dominating DeSantis 'Nearly 2-to-1' In The 2024 Race

The numbers from the latest Rasmussen poll are in and have shown a dramatic outcome for 45th President Donald J. Trump. The poll conducted from May 30 to June 1st surveyed 1,012 likely voters and revealed a 28 percent lead for the president over Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL). And startlingly almost half of DeSantis' supporters against Trump would vote for President Joe Biden in the general election.

According to Rasmussen, 49 percent of likely voters viewed DeSantis favorably, this includes 25 percent who held a 'very favorable' view of him. Meanwhile, 42 percent view him unfavorably, and 27 percent very unfavorably. While this offers a revealing glimpse into DeSantis' general election fortunes, the head-to-head polling against Trump truly stole the show.

As the pollster reports, 70 percent of GOP voters hold a favorable view of the governor, while 37 percent say that have a very favorable view of DeSantis. But in a matchup against Trump, 58 percent would vote for the president, and only 30 percent for DeSantis.

In a severe blow to DeSantis and his supporters, in a matchup between DeSantis and Democrat incumbent President Joe Biden, the two stood in a dead heat at 44 percent. Compare this to a recent Harvard-Caps Harris Poll, previously reported by DC Enquirer that showed Trump defeating the Democrat by a seven-point margin.

Most unusually the Rasmussen team noted, "Among all Likely Voters who say they would choose DeSantis over Trump as the GOP 2024 nominee, 40% would choose Biden over DeSantis in the general election." This suggests that the DeSantis camp has a sizable population of either Republicans-In-Name-Only (RINOs), 'NeverTrump' Republicans, or outright Democrats misrepresenting themselves as Republicans.

The report from Rasmussen delves down into the proverbial weeds and describes a thorough breakdown of DeSantis' support from race to gender and income bracket. He seems to perform best among men (53 percent), white voters (51 percent), Republicans under 40, and voters above the $200,000 income bracket. Trump leads definitively among voters making under $100,000, showing far greater support among average Americans.
