Speculation is rife after a primetime interview between The Blaze's Glenn Beck and the 2024 Republican primary frontrunner, 45th President Donald J. Trump, when the topic of a potential vice presidential pick came up.
Trump told Beck that pharmaceutical entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has "really distinguished himself," according to The Hill. During the phone-in interview, Beck asked Trump if he'd given the 38-year-old billionaire consideration as a possible pick for vice president.
Trump told the host, "Well, I think he’s great. Look, anybody that said I’m the best president in a generation. I don't know you'll have to define 'generation' that's a long time. And he said it a couple of times. And he said it in a hundred years. So I have to like a guy like that. You know, I can't get upset with him." calling back to Ramaswamy's comments about him during the first GOP primary debate last week.
“He’s a smart guy. He’s a young guy. He’s got a lot of talent. He’s a very, very, very intelligent person,” Trump added.
“He’s got good energy, and he could be in some form of something. I tell ya, I think he’d be very good. I think he’s really distinguished himself.”
While the outlook seems rosey for a Trump-Ramaswamy 2024 ticket, Trump did offer a word of caution to the younger businessman turned outsider politician: "He's starting to get out there a little bit. He's getting a little bit controversial."
Trump said.
"I got to tell him: 'Be a little bit careful. Some things you have to hold in just a little bit, right?'"
"He's got a lot of good energy I will tell you and he's been, he's been very nice to me, and you know most of them have," he added.

In response to the suggestion from Trump, Ramaswamy's spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin told Axios, "If I'm a betting woman, I wouldn't expect Vivek to hold back much!"
While both Trump's comment and Ramaswamy's response are certainly on-brand for both candidates, neither necessarily precludes a possible alignment of interests, and indeed, many have suggested that Ramaswamy has been working this potential angle, pointing to his ready support of Trump after his indictment in Florida and his being the fastest debate respondent to indicate he would pardon Trump if elected.
Reactions from commentators have been mixed with some on MSNBC suggesting that Ramaswamy could be angling for vice president and radical leftist commentator Hasan Piker suggesting that Republicans would never elect "someone with the last name Ramaswamy," citing the poor electoral outcome of former Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.
