Dan Cox, a Trump-endorsed lawyer running for Governor of Maryland, beat out supposed RINO Kelly Schulz in the state’s Republican primary earlier this week. The constitutional lawyer and state delegate built up steam by running to the right on issues such as abortion, the Second Amendment, and the COVID lockdowns from 2020.
Cox took a hard line against COVID-19 measures in his home state during the height of the restrictions and was a strong anti-lockdown advocate — still standing by those same principles today.
On his campaign website, Cox laid out what he’s called his “contract to Maryland,” which contains a detailed plan of what he promises to do if elected to office.
In his promise, Cox reiterates his belief that all people and businesses are essential. “I will ensure that the rights of life, liberty, and property are guaranteed to every person in each executive action,” he wrote. “I will never lock you down and will work to reduce regulations, taxes and ensure our retirees can retire in Maryland.”
He also referred to issues such as critical race theory, school choice, taxes, and law enforcement – all major conservative issues.
When Hogan had to choose a successor, it surely wouldn’t be Dan Cox due to his conservative credentials. Instead, Hogan endorsed Schulz, a former Secretary of Commerce in Hogan’s administration.

Cox received 52 percent of the vote on Tuesday, while Schulz trailed with only 40 percent, according to local news reports. The GOP Gubernatorial nominee announced the victory on Twitter with only two words: “WE WON” in all caps.
Cox had built up his campaign with other endorsements, including Former President Donald Trump who said this.
“Dan Cox is an America First Patriot who is running for Governor in the Great State of Maryland. A tough lawyer, and smart businessman, Dan has done outstanding work in the Maryland General Assembly. Dan is MAGA all the way-unlike his opponent, Kelly Schultz, who was handpicked by her ‘boss,’ RINO Larry Hogan, who has been terrible for our Country and is against the America First Movement.”
Cox’s primary win is just another sign of the Republican party fully embracing America First values and leaving RINO talking points behind in the dust.
Trump endorsed candidates are thriving in GOP primaries across the nation, making it clear that the former president still has some strong pull over the Republican party’s future — whether he runs for the White House or not.
