On Wednesday, April 13th, President Biden woke up to a surprise on his doorstep— a busload of illegal immigrants coming to DC from the border. These detainees, per the Biden administration’s policies, were to be released into the country pending their court hearings. Normally, they would be dropped in border communities, but after they complained to Governor Abbott, he got a better idea— and sent them to Washington DC.

The migrants were dropped a few blocks away from the Capitol, right next to the offices of FOX News.
“Texans demand and deserve an aggressive, comprehensive strategy to secure our border—not President Biden’s lackluster leadership. As the federal government continues to roll back commonsense policies that once kept our communities safe, our local law enforcement has stepped up to protect Texans from dangerous criminals, deadly drugs, and illegal contraband flooding into the Lone Star State,” Abbott said.
The move was criticized by the Biden White House, with Jen Psaki saying “I’m not aware of what authority the Governor would be doing that under. I think it’s pretty clear this is a publicity stunt.”
The Texas ACLU called the move “politically motivated.”

This comes on as the latest escalation in a feud between the Biden and Abbott Administrations. In her remarks on the bussing affair, Psaki also commented on the Governor’s recent controversial executive orders regarding the border “Governor Abbott’s unnecessary and redundant inspections of trucks transiting ports of entry between Texas and Mexico are causing significant disruptions to the food and automobile supply chains, delaying manufacturing, impacting jobs, and raising prices for families in Texas and across the country,” she said.
She also blamed Abbott for exacerbating supply chain issues. “Because trucks are facing lengthy delays exceeding 5 hours at some border crossings and commercial traffic has dropped by as much as 60 percent.”
