The Kentucky constituency office of Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was heavily damaged when the building containing it was engulfed in flames early Friday morning.
Reports indicate that firefighters were called in at approximately 2 a.m. Friday morning and encountered a "heavy blaze" that required additional units to contain per Bowling Green Fire Department spokeswoman Katie McKee who spoke to the Bowling Green Daily News cited by The Associated Press. It took nine units working in concert to finally extinguish the flames.
McKee told the press that no injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sen. Rand Paul’s office was not the only building impacted, the fire impacted multiple neighboring commercial businesses in downtown Bowling Green. A public information officer for the Bowling Green Fire Department, says no injuries have been reported.
Several large tree limbs in front of Sen. Rand Paul's office had to be cut so a hose could reach the 2nd floor windows. Six units worked to extinguish the flames, with firefighters manning the aerials of trucks 1 and 6 to get at the fire from above. (Bowling Green Daily)"
“We are thankful for the Bowling Green first responders who arrived quickly to the scene to put out the fire, and are continuing to work with authorities to assess damages and to determine a cause,” Sen. Paul said.
The severe fire reportedly caused the building's roof to collapse inward. The Washington Examiner reported that a law firm, the law office of Kerrick Bachert, located near the senator's office in the building was destroyed. A retailer, Dezign Tees was also damaged.“We have a very well established emergency management plan and have the ability to continue operations that will not impact our work helping Kentuckians.”
In recent weeks Sen. Paul has been the center of multiple controversies. As previously reported by DC Enquirer, he referred Dr. Anthony Fauci, former White House medical advisor and head of the NIAID, for prosecution under allegations of perjury last week. He also presented a bill to clarify Congress' role in the declaration of war, in particular regarding NATO's Article V, a measure that failed after receiving only 16 Republican votes.
