RFK Shares Views That Alienate Conservative Supporters, Advocates For Assault Weapon Ban And Affirmative Action

Many conservatives are lamenting over the loss of Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy after he made comments talking about how he is unhappy with the Supreme Court decision that struck down affirmative action as well as his statement that he’d sign an assault weapon ban if he were to be elected to the Oval Office.

Kennedy has been popular with members across all political viewpoints. While running as a Democrat, the candidate has spoken about numerous populist viewpoints that he backs as well as fighting against transgender insanity that is overtaking the country. He also allows for a unique uniting force, being someone able to garner the support from everyone during a time of such fervent political divide, something no other candidate seems able to do currently.

Sadly for many of his conservative supporters, there may be too many negative points. Kennedy has already made it clear his views on abortion, stating that he was pro-choice. He explained that he believed heavily in medical autonomy, comparing a woman’s access to abortion to people choosing whether or not to take untested vaccines, per WMUR.

While that alone may not have been enough for his conservative backers to leave, some of his other viewpoints seem to be. In his recent town hall with News Nation, he stated his intent to sign a bill banning assault weapons as long as “Republicans and Democrats agreed and it passed Congress.”

The comment has caused some confusion, as in New Hampshire RFK spoke on how taking away guns would not immediately solve the mass shooting problems observed in America. He instead looked to the mental health crisis to solve the issue. He even previously said in a conversation with Elon Musk that he is “not going to take away anybody’s guns. I’m a constitutional maximalist and the issue has been settled by the Supreme Court.”

As if his gun take wasn’t a hard enough hit for conservative supporters, Kennedy released a stinker of a tweet lamenting the decision by the Supreme Court to ban affirmative action.

“Regarding the Supreme Court banning affirmative action in higher ed — I know many Americans feel that purely race-based decisions are unfair. However, this feeling misses important context. The effects of racist policies going back centuries are now self-perpetuating,” he wrote.

He attempted to back his claim, adding that “‘Color-blind’ admissions tend to favor those who are already in the circle of privilege,” but sadly that wasn’t enough to repair his claim for many.

Many still show support for the Democratic candidate as a viable choice against incumbent President Joe Biden but his most recent takes undoubtedly injure his chances of success. Nonetheless, Kennedy must share his true opinion as it’s important for voters to understand the candidate's entire political understanding and not just the points they agree on.
