Vivek Ramaswamy Reveals Why He's In The Race After Praising Trump As 'The Best President Of The 21st Century'

Rising Republican star Vivek Ramaswamy shared why despite calling Donald Trump “the best president of the 21st century,” he still feels like he should be the Republican nominee, specifically pointing to his young age compared to fellow candidates.

"I think we need to aspire for excellence. We're Americans. We aspire constantly higher. So, yes, George Bush, Barack Obama, Joe Biden. I put Donald Trump by far at the top of that pack. But I want to build on the foundation that he laid to take the America First agenda to the next level," he told Fox News during a campaign event in Iowa.

"I think it will take someone of a different generation with fresh legs and an actual positive vision for the country to get us there. I think I can deliver a landslide election in a way that nobody else in this race can. Building that multi-ethnic working-class coalition that includes people both young and old to make it happen, black and white, inner city and rural. That's my sense of responsibility that I have to deliver it. And I think that's what we need to reunite this country," he continued.

The young Republican spoke extremely highly of Trump during the debate, tearing former Vice President Mike Pence (R-IN) apart for his response to January 6th and refusing to support his vision for the country.

"Let's just speak the truth, OK? President Trump, I believe, was the best president of the 21st century,” Ramaswamy said at the Republican debate on Wednesday. “It's a fact. I am running for President of the United States. We're skating on thin ice. And we cannot set a precedent where the party in power uses police force to indict its political opponents. It is wrong. We have to end the weaponization of justice in this country."

Ramaswamy is widely considered to be the best performer at the debate on Wednesday with numerous media outlets praising his gusto in answering and pushing the hard questions. Even Trump himself weighed in on the young Republicans performance, saying that he gained “a big win” that night, per the DC Enquirer.

While it is very unlikely that he will be able to secure the nomination with the immense support of former President Trump, Ramaswamy did not go unnoticed. The upstart will very likely have a good tenure in politics if things keep progressing the way they are now.
