Major League Baseball has another serious credibility problem.
A shocking undercover video reportedly shows a Washington Nationals executive openly admitting the team avoided promoting a Christian player because of concerns over the player’s faith and public image. Even more disturbing, the executive allegedly discussed monitoring fans online and pushing progressive political agendas through the organization.
If true, this goes far beyond politics in sports. It’s outright ideological discrimination.
For years, Americans have watched woke activism infect nearly every major institution in the country — Hollywood, universities, corporations, and now professional sports. But hearing a team executive casually discuss blacklisting a Christian athlete should outrage every fan who still believes sports are supposed to unite Americans, not punish them for their beliefs.
Imagine the outrage if a player were targeted for openly supporting a left-wing political cause. The media would explode. Activists would demand investigations. But when it’s a Christian athlete holding traditional values, corporate elites and sports executives suddenly go silent.
The allegations also raise serious concerns about how far these organizations are willing to go to police thought and behavior. Reports of fan surveillance and ideological monitoring sound less like baseball and more like something out of an authoritarian political movement.
Many conservatives have warned for years that professional sports leagues are becoming activist organizations first and sports organizations second. Between anti-American protests, nonstop political messaging, and corporate virtue signaling, countless fans already feel alienated from the games they once loved.
Now they’re being given another reason.
What makes this scandal especially disturbing is the apparent hostility toward Christianity itself. Faith-based values that millions of Americans hold dear are increasingly treated as dangerous or unacceptable inside elite institutions. Diversity and inclusion, it seems, only apply if your beliefs align with progressive politics.
The Washington Nationals owe fans answers. Americans should not have to wonder whether athletes are being hidden, punished, or discriminated against because they openly express their faith.
For many baseball fans, this controversy is bigger than one team or one executive. It’s about whether professional sports still belong to the American people — or whether they’ve become just another arm of the activist Left.
