During a particularly cringeworthy interview last week, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre characterized herself as a "historic figure" while discussing her first year in the role.
Speaking with The Grio, Jean-Pierre was introduced to the audience as a "history maker" purely due to identitarian box-checking, noting that she is the first black person, the first homosexual, and the first immigrant to ever hold her role.
As previously reported by Fox News, she told The Grio, "I don't know if I've ever had an image or a view of what it would be like as a historic figure in this role because you never know, but one thing that I can say is being the first, and I've had many firsts, it's always very different."
"It's going to be very different for me than it was for the last 34 press secretaries, and that's just a fact," she added, and this is undoubtedly true and probably not for the reason she'd like it to be.
Jean-Pierre told them that it was a privilege to represent President Joe Biden at the podium but then returned to her identitarian talking points.
She told interviewers, "It's not lost on me the communities that I represent and what I mean to those communities, and how they view me at the podium and how important it is to them."
She continued, "That is also on my mind, right? On how I'm representing the Black community, the Caribbean community, the LGBTQ+ community, and it is important I do that well." She credited the Biden administration with being the most "pro-equality administration" and contributing to the "most advanced LGBTQIA+ equality ever."
For a second time, and even more explicitly she described herself as a "historic figure" when asked about her proudest moment since taking the role.
She told The Grio,
The responses to Jean-Pierre's conceit showed that many on Twitter were not amused with the press secretary's opinion of herself and how she is "walk[ing] in history." On Twitter, ALX noted, "Historic figures usually don’t walk around calling themselves historic figures."
Turning Point USA's Charlie Kirk agreed with Jean-Pierre's assessment of herself as a "historic figure," describing her asl "Historically entitled, historically dishonest, historically dumb, and historically bad at her job."
The Post Millennial's Editor-In-Chief Libby Emmons observed, "Claiming to be 'historic' is the kind of thing a propagandist would do."
