On Sunday, a new report from Axios highlights the various steps forward for former Fox News host Tucker Carlson after he departed the cable news network last month.
According to Axios, Carlson is ready to take the fight to Fox in order to force the network into letting him out of his contract which currently expires in January 2025, notably after the conclusion of the 2024 presidential race.
Being released from his contract would allow the conservative media personality to either join a rival network, such as Newsmax, go his own way with an organization like Rumble, or create his own media company. This wouldn't be Carlson's first stab at starting from scratch, however, given his efforts to found the media company The Daily Caller in 2010.
Carlson has reportedly been in talks with Twitter CEO Elon Musk to work together, however, it is unclear what details, if any, had been hashed out between the two.
A source told Axios that the former Fox host "knows where a lot of bodies are buried, and is ready to start drawing a map."
"They're coming to him and saying: 'Do you want me to hit Fox?''' a friend of Carlson's told Axios. "He's been saying: 'No. I want to get this done quiet and clean.'"
"Now, we're going from peacetime to Defcon 1," the friend added. "His team is preparing for war. He wants his freedom."
Carlson's upcoming offensive against Fox comes after various behind-the-scene clips have gone public via Media Matters. Fox News has denied leaking the clips to the press, however, media commentators like Megyn Kelly have called out Fox for purposefully attempting to ruin Carlson's reputation.
Tucker Carlson's ouster from Fox News is one of the biggest media shakeups of the 21st century and will define the future direction of the Republican Party. Carlson has had tremendous influence over the grassroots and his ability to communicate a populist vision is valuable. Hopefully, Fox lets him out of his contract and he can get back to what he does best.
