Donald Trump Fires Back Following Durham Report – 'There Must Be A Heavy Price To Pay'

On Monday, following the revelations that the FBI probe on Donald Trump during his election should have never been launched over a lack of reasoning, the former president stated that FBI Director James Comey and the Democrats need to be held accountable.

"I, and much more importantly, the American public have been victims of this long-running and treasonous charade started by the Democrats — started by Comey," Trump said in an interview with Fox News. "There must be a heavy price to pay for putting our country through this."

The report issued by Special Counsel John Durham concluded that the Department of Justice and FBI “failed to uphold their mission of strict fidelity to the law” in its investigation between Trump and Russia. Trump has long claimed as such, referring to the investigation as a “witch hunt” numerous times on his social media accounts.

Trump applauded Durham for his investigation, saying, “This report took a long time because John Durham is a very thorough investigator.” The report took Durham a total of three years to compile the over 300-page document, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer

The major takeaway from the investigation was that the FBI used different standards of reasoning to investigate then-presidential candidate Donald Trump as opposed to then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

The FBI and the Justice Department also failed to follow proper procedure when investigating Donald Trump, such as failing to get a FISA warrant to spy upon the former president. "Based on the review of Crossfire Hurricane and related intelligence activities, we concluded the Department and the FBI failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law in connection with certain events and activities described in this report," the report stated firmly.

Donald Trump is strong in his beliefs of the FBI and Justice Department failing, saying, “The result is unequivocal and an absolute disaster in terms of justice,” adding that “the national security implications of what they did are very grave.” Donald Trump made it clear he would have “further comment[s] in the near future,” so this won’t be all we hear from the target of ‘Crossfire Hurricane.’

It’s hard to say the results of the Durham report are surprising. Donald Trump has spoken numerous times on the illegitimacy of the investigation, and even looking as an outsider would raise questions. When Hillary Clinton can make unjust moves in her campaign and receive no punishment or investigation for it, but just the rough idea Trump may have a level of collusion with Russia is enough for investigation, something is wrong.
