'We're Not Doing The Pronoun Olympics In Florida': DeSantis Signs In MAJOR Legislation Protecting Children From Woke Agenda

On Wednesday, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) signed in major legislation for the Sunshine State, prohibiting the students and teachers from declaring pronouns in schools in what he referred to as “pronoun Olympics,” banning sex-changing procedures for minors, and prohibiting children from attending drag shows.

The legislation was signed into law with several other laws that were designed to “expand the Parental Right in Education law, end pronoun insanity in schools, ban transgender hormones & surgeries for minors, ensure bathrooms/locker rooms are SAFE for girls & women, protect kids from sexually explicit drag shows, & MORE,” according to a tweet put out by DeSantis’ team.
One of these bills, House Bill 1069, specifically targeted the action of declaring pronouns in schools, a practice pushed by the far left to indoctrinate the idea of different gender identities. "This bill ensures Florida students and teachers will never be forced to declare pronouns in school or be forced to use pronouns not based on biological sex," the governor declared at a press conference discussing the bills.

The Sunshine State’s governor pointed to how the practice was extremely new but still far-reaching. He specifically stated that third-graders were already declaring pronouns in what he called “the pronoun Olympics.”
The bill bans both students and teachers from providing or requesting pronouns, stating, “An employee or contractor of a public K-12 educational 107 institution may not provide to a student his or her preferred 108 personal title or pronouns if such preferred personal title or 109 pronouns do not correspond to his or her sex.”

The document continues with, “A student may not be asked by an employee or 111 contractors of a public K-12 educational institution to provide 112 his or her preferred personal title or pronouns or be penalized 113 or subjected to adverse or discriminatory treatment for not 114 providing his or her preferred personal title or pronouns.”

DeSantis also signed two other bills, House Bill 1521, which bans “willfully entering restroom[s] or changing facilit[ies] designated for opposite sex & refusing to depart when asked to do so." The third bill, House Bill 225, expanded the ability of private and homeschool students to participate in sports throughout the state, taking away the requirement to live within a certain zip code.

DeSantis has addressed many different policies related to schooling and parental rights within the state of Florida. DeSantis recently passed a bill allowing teachers to ban the use of smartphones within classrooms as well as allocating an additional $1.05 billion intended for pay raises for teachers in the state, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.

Another major bill signed by DeSantis, Senate Bill 254, follows the suit of many other states banning children from undergoing sex-altering procedures, which include gender-reassignment surgery, hormones, and puberty blockers. The legislation goes the extra mile in refusing to reimburse any people who underwent these procedures through Medicare.

The final legislation the Sunshine State governor signed on Wednesday was Senate Bill 1348, which bans children from attending drag shows. "You know, there's these adult performances... these drag shows, sexually explicit and what they're doing. And look, adult entertainment, you know, people can do what they want with some of that," DeSantis stated on the issue. "But to have minors there, I mean, you'll have situations where you'll have like an 8-year-old girl there where you have these, like really explicit shows and that is just inappropriate."

The laws signed in by DeSantis continue the Florida governor's impressive track record of ensuring that children, both inside and outside the classroom, don't get indoctrinated by the woke agenda.
