On Thursday, conservative commentator Tim Pool took to Twitter to lament a recent attack ad from Governor Ron DeSantis' campaign that went after 45th President Donald Trump for not firing Dr. Antony Fauci during the coronavirus pandemic. The attack ad, however, featured AI-generated images showing Trump embracing the former NIAID director.
In response to this, social media exploded in a firestorm of ridicule directed at the DeSantis campaign with Tim Pool writing, "Holy f**k this is dirty as shit. DeSantis War Room is running AI Images of Trump embracing Fauci. This crosses the line."

"Fake images posted by the Desantis campaign used to smear Trump," Pool continued in another post, adding, "Complete and utter Biden level scumbaggery."

"I was 55/45 for Trump/DeSantis. Now Im 0% for DeSantis," the commentator wrote. "Using AI images to smear Trump is a hard f**k you. DeSantis must disavow."

Others online also lambasted the DeSantis campaign for the manipulative ad with Sen. J.D. Vance tweeting out, "Smearing Donald Trump with fake AI images is completely unacceptable. I’m not sharing them, but we’re in a new era. Be even more skeptical of what you see on the internet."

It is clear that the DeSantis campaign made a serious blunder in attacking President Trump in this manner. Perhaps others who were on the fence about a DeSantis candidacy will be joining Tim Pool on team Trump after the manipulative attack.
