'Not The Way Forward': Chris Christie Rules Out Third-Party 'No Labels' Run

On Wednesday, failed 2024 presidential candidate Chris Christie (R-NJ) announced that he would forgo a third-party 'No Labels' run for president, as speculation continued to grow that he would headline such a ticket. However, Christie decided that a 'No Labels' ticket would only help Donald J. Trump regain the White House in 2024, and Christie's dislike for Trump has become all the more apparent as the days wind on.

"I appreciate the encouragement I've gotten to pursue a third-party candidacy," Christie said in a viral post on X. "I believe we need a country that once again feels like everyone has a stake in what we're doing and leadership that strives to bring people together, instead of using anger to divide us." It is unclear who he is referring to in that last statement, but such language is especially applicable to Joe Biden, who is second only to Barack Obama as the Divider-in-Chief of the United States. Christie is right about one thing, though -- it is time for Americans to unite, and we hope and pray that they will be united behind Donald J. Trump and his patriotic vision for American greatness.

For additional context, 'No Labels' is a third-party unity ticket that thinks "healthy disagreement is a good thing in our democracy. Principled debate leads to a better understanding on both sides and leads to better legislation and governance for the nation." The Democrats are concerned a 'No Labels' ticket would hand Donald Trump the presidency, given Biden's historic unpopularity. As such, Christie concluded by saying. "While I believe this is a conversation that needs to be had with the American people, I also believe that if there is not a pathway to win and if my candidacy in any way, shape or form would help Donald Trump become president again, then it is not the way forward."

As the DC Enquirer previously reported, Christie addressed speculation of a third-party run earlier this month, saying, "I do not know what I am going to do in November, but I am not voting for Donald Trump under any circumstances... In my state, my vote is not going to matter a lick. I do not know who the full field is going to be yet. And there might be a No Labels candidate... If there was ever a time in our lifetime when a third-party candidate could make a difference, I think it's now."
