Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has been heavily criticized by members of the conservative media and Republican colleagues alike after making remarks during an interview with Al Jazeera described as the "racist' and "disgusting" targeting of white men.
According to The Blaze, Omar told the Qatar-based network,
"I would say our country should be more fearful of white me across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country."
Omar provided no supporting data to the wildly prejudicial claim that would suggest that white men cause a majority of deaths in the U.S.
The reactions on Twitter were immediate and forceful. Georgia's former Democratic State Representative and now Republican Vernon Jones posted that "She should be removed from Congress."
Kyle Becker opined, "This isn't 'reverse racism.' This is racism. Straight up."

The interview on Al Jazeera English happened in February 2018 but resurfaced over the weekend after being shared on several prominent conservative accounts. Omar's shocking statement came when host Mehdi Hasan asked her about so-called "Islamophobia" in America.
Hasan asked, "A lot of conservatives in particular would say that the rise of Islamophobia is the result not of hate but of fear — a legitimate fear they say of 'jihadist terrorism' whether it’s Fort Hood or San Bernardino or the recent truck attack in New York. What do you say to them?"
She responded in context: "I would say our country should be more fearful of white men across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country."

Twitter account @EndWokeness asked, "What would happen if a white politician said this about blacks?"
As noted by The Blaze, Market Strategist Kenny Polcari wrote, "Is she kidding? And where is the @DNC to counter this BS. She fled Somalia, why exactly? This is disgusting and she needs to be called out by the ruling party! Anything short of that is BS!"
Dr. Sebastian Gorka responded to the clip on Newsmax Saturday with incredulity. "Really? White men cause most of the deaths? Really? You mean the white police officers who are saving lives? The white and Hispanic border patrol agents who are saving the lives of illegal immigrants flooding across the border? The white men who are. What? Climbing into burning buildings? Or the white men who are fighting for your liberty around the world and killing terrorists who destroyed countries like yours."
He adds, "If you're a black man, you're most likely to be killed most often by whom in America? Sadly, depressingly, your fellow black males. 9,000 a year."
