Twitter Lands a Killing Blow To Competitor Threads, Issues MASSIVE Payouts To Popular Creators

On Thursday afternoon, a series of unusual tweets began propagating across the internet with content creators, many of them independent journalists and right-leaning commentators, thanking Twitter for massive advertising-share payouts. It has all the appearance of a massive power move by Elon Musk that is sure to attract major attention and intensify the allure of the platform for both influential creators and advertisers alike.

In short, it's a masterful stroke and could be a lethal blow in Twitter's battle against the burgeoning 'Threads by Instagram' offered by rival Meta under Mark Zuckerberg.

At about 12:45 p.m. EST, T(w)itter Daily News posted a message the outlet received that stated,

"Surprise, We're delighted to share a portion of our ads revenue generated from you Tweets' replies with you. We want to make sure you can benefit from your posts as a Creator, and this is yet another step towards that goal. You will receive your share via the Stripe account you used to register for Creator Subscriptions in the next 72 hours."

According to Forbes, "Users must be subscribed to Twitter Blue, own a Stripe account for payment and have more than 5 million tweet impressions in each month for the last 3 months to be eligible for ad revenue sharing." The outlet reported that per Musk the first block of the payments would total $5 million. Among the highest so far reported was for Billy Markus who co-created the Doge Cryptocurrency who shared his payout of $37,050.

As previously reported by DC Enquirer, X Corp. the parent company of Twitter has threatened a lawsuit against "Meta's copycat 'Threads' app," specifically alleging the "systematic, willful, and unlawful misappropriation of Twitter’s trade secrets and other intellectual property."

At present, Twitter has not publicized the methodology for calculating payouts to its creators or the revenue split.
