Shortly before 3 p.m. EST reports have come in of an "Internal Security Threat" at the Russell Senate Office Building near the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Evacuations are reportedly underway and staffers are being told to shelter in place, "find a place to hide or seek cover."

According to RawsAlerts, "Currently, there's a situation in Washington DC where multiple law enforcement and other agencies are responding to a possible active shooter at the Senate building. After police got concerning 911 call reported a possible active shooter, so officers are searching in and around the Senate Office Buildings. Everyone in the building is either taking shelter or being evacuated. However, at this time, police have not received or confirmed any reports of gunshots so far."

The U.S. Capitol Police advised the public, "Our officers are searching in and around the Senate Office Buildings in response to a concerning 911 call. Please stay away from the area as we are still investigating. We will continue to communicate with the public here."

Citizen Free Press reports that at least fifty police vehicles were spotted responding to the scene "including DC police, Capitol Police, K9s, and many officers with long guns."
