President Biden showed once again the impact of his age on his mental acuity on Thursday when he referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelsnky as "President Putin" when introducing him at the NATO Summit in Washington, D.C. The gaffe is the latest verbal error made by the president as he attempts to convince the American public and his fellow Democrats that he has what it takes to run for re-election.
"And now I want to hand it over to the president of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination. Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin," Biden said. After realizing his mistake, Biden returned to the podium and apologized for the error, explaining that he got confused because he was so focused on beating the Russian leader. "President Putin. He's going to beat President Putin. President Zelensky. I'm so focused on beating Putin, we have to worry about it."
The error comes less than an hour before a high-profile press conference that could determine President Biden's fate as the Democratic nominee. The president will take questions from the press, and elected Democrats will watch to see if Biden makes the same egregious errors seen during the presidential debate.
