BREAKING: Mitch McConnell Appears To Have Disturbing 'Medical Episode' During Press Conference

On Wednesday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) appeared to have a medical episode while addressing the press on Capitol Hill.

The video, posted by reporter Frank Thorp, that has now gone viral appears to show that the minority leader stopped speaking during the presser and later was walked away by disturbed colleagues.

According to Thorp, McConnell was led away from the podium by Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) before returning back to the podium a few minutes later.

When asked about his condition following the incident, McConnell responded that he was "fine."

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, the Republican fell in early March while out at a dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel leading to the 81-year-old being hospitalized.

“Leader McConnell tripped at a dinner event Wednesday evening and has been admitted to the hospital and is being treated for a concussion. He is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days,” said McConnell’s Communication Director David Popp. “The Leader is grateful to the medical professionals for their care and to his colleagues for their warm wishes.”

On the night of the fall, a McConnell spokesperson stated that the minority leader “tripped at a local hotel during a private dinner. He has been admitted to the hospital where he is receiving treatment.”

In late March, McConnell released a statement saying that he would return to the Senate soon and is currently undergoing physical therapy.

“I want to sincerely thank everyone for all the kind wishes,” he said. “I’m happy to say I finished inpatient physical therapy earlier today and I’m glad to be home.”

“I’m going to follow the advice of my physical therapists and spend the next few days working for Kentuckians and the Republican Conference from home,” McConnell explained. “I’m in frequent touch with my Senate colleagues and my staff. I look forward to returning in person to the Senate soon.”

Given McConnell's advanced age, 81-years-old, some are calling upon him to resign after the episode.

"Mitch McConnell has cognitive malfunction at podium. Has to be escorted away by fellow Senators," wrote Rogan O'Handley. "This man has clear cognitive impairments after sustaining serious head trauma from his fall a few months ago. It is clear that he should resign."

"Wow. This doesn’t look good at all. Mitch McConnell looks like he just had a medical episode during a Senate press conference," wrote Robby Starbuck about the incident.
