On Monday, King Charles III, the 75-year-old monarch of the United Kingdom, was diagnosed with cancer, Buckingham Palace announced. The statement did not specify what type of cancer the monarch had, however, the Palace did specify that he did not have prostate cancer.
"During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted," the palace said in a statement. "Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer."
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” Buckingham Palace added. "The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible."
King Charles was discharged from a London hospital last week after he underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate.
Prince Harry, who has been isolated from the rest of the Royal Family in recent years, will travel to England to visit his father in the coming days.
