BREAKING: Judge Rules Against Letitia James In Challenge To Trump's $175 Million Bond - 'A Complete Waste Of Time'

On Monday, the judge in Trump's New York civil trial brought by Attorney General Letitia James ruled that the $175 million bond backed by Knight Specialty Insurance will stand after prosecutors from Attorney General Letitia James' (D-NY) office attempted to invalidate it.

Lawyers from the AG's office attempted to claim that the insurance company couldn't pay the bond if Trump failed on appeal. However, Judge Arthur Engoron sided with Trump's legal team and ruled that the bond would stand. Despite this, the judge made clear that Knight Specialty Insurance could not trade or move the money if the bond had to be paid in full. He also mandated that the large sum must be in cash and not mutual funds or securities, which could fluctuate over time. The judge also mandated that the company provide a monthly financial statement that showed the availability of the $175 million in cash.

Trump lawyer Alina Habba, speaking to reporters outside the courtroom following the ruling, explained that James' efforts to invalidate the bond was a waste of time. "A complete waste of time and taxpayer money, once again," Habba said, per Fox News. "The fact that we have two courts, not one criminal and civil, being used against one man because they cannot beat him in the polls is a disgrace to the American judicial system. He should not have two teams of lawyers here today. He should not even be here today because he did nothing wrong. It is the epitome of a witch hunt."

"Ms. James wanted to argue and say that our cash somehow isn't green enough. This is where your tax dollars are going to America, right here, witch hunt after witch hunt," Habba added. "We're here because of something that happened when he was in the White House that wasn't even wrong. It was not wrong. You hire lawyers to solve problems, they solve those problems, we pay them. That's it. This is a joke."
