BREAKING: Jim Jordan's Speakership Seems All But Certain After MAJOR Endorsement

On Friday, House Republicans will be taking yet another vote to determine who will be the next speaker of the House in a closed door meeting after Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) dropped out of the race after not being able to secure enough votes to win the gavel.

Since then, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who initially ran against Scalise, reentered the race. The only other candidate to challenge Jordan is Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA). Other potential candidates have until 12:30 PM EST to file to run for the speakership and the vote will be taking place at one o'clock.

According to CNN's Melanie Zanona, Austin Scott has told colleagues that he is standing against Jim Jordan and will be running as an anti-Jim Jordan candidate for many of the moderates who have refused to back Jordan.

"I have filed to be Speaker of the House," Scott wrote on X/Twitter. "We are in Washington to legislate, and I want to lead a House that functions in the best interest of the American people."

Despite Scott's decision to run, Republicans are beginning to rally behind him and Jordan has even been able to secure the support of former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA)

"MCCARTHY says he is supporting JORDAN," Fox News congressional reporter Aishah Hasnie revealed on X/Twitter.
