BREAKING: Jim Jordan Wins House Speakership Vote

On Friday, House Republicans took to yet another internal meeting to decide who amongst them would be given the speaker's gavel.

After Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) dropped out of the race earlier in the week without getting enough votes to win on the House floor, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) became the favorite amongst the majority of Republicans.

Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA), a McCarthy ally, entered the race at the last minute, however, and was able to rally moderate Republicans to his side.

Scott's efforts, however, were unsuccessful in pulling away enough support from Jordan leading to the Ohio Republican winning 124 votes, a majority of the 217 needed to win the gavel, while Scott had the support of 81 of his colleagues.

This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
