BREAKING: Hamas Gives 'Positive Confirmation' For Gaza Ceasefire, Hostage Deal With Israel

On Thursday, the terrorist organization Hamas, which has been combating the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in the Gaza Strip since Hamas massacred Israeli civilians on October 7, gave its initial approval to a ceasefire and hostage deal, according to the Qatari foreign ministry. As of this report, the duration of the ceasefire agreed upon is unclear. However, the agreement proposed calls for an initial 40-day ceasefire.

Negotiations for a potential ceasefire have been underway for many weeks, and Hamas signaled that it was unlikely to reject a hostage deal but stipulated that it must come with the guarantee that Israel would end the war. According to the Jerusalem Post, Qatari and Egyptian negotiators presented Hamas with the ceasefire proposal from Israel and the United States last week in Paris.

A Palestinian official familiar with the talks told The Post that the first phase of the agreement would be a ceasefire that lasted 40 days while Hamas freed civilian hostages. Additional phases would then see the release of Israeli soldiers currently being held hostage as well as the handing over of the bodies of dead hostages.

"I expect that Hamas will not reject the paper, but it might not give a decisive agreement either," the Palestinian official said.

This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
