On Friday, a clip released from a recent interview that Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) had with NBC's Chuck Todd on 'Meet the Press' cleared the air on whether or not the Californian would run for the Democratic nomination in 2024.
"I think the vice president is naturally the one lined up and the filing deadlines are quickly coming to pass and I think we need to move past this notion that he is not going to run," Gov. Newsom told Chuck Todd on NBC's 'Meet the Press.'
"President Biden is going to run and looking forward to getting reelected. I think there has been so much wallowing in the last few months and handwringing of disrespect but we are gearing up for the campaign, we are looking forward to it," Newsom continued.
The Californian told weary donors that it is "time to move on, let's go" and back Biden.
"It's the Biden-Harris administration so maybe I'm a little old fashioned about presidents and vice presidents," Newsom said when asked whether or not Harris would be the one to step in if Biden couldn't run. "I was a lieutenant governor so I'm a little subjective."
When he was asked if he would run against Harris if Biden dropped out, Newsom responded: "Of course not. By definition. Won’t happen.”
