BREAKING: Federal Judge SLAMS New Mexico Governor With Ruling After Second Amendment Ban

On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge David Urias issued a ruling blocking New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham's (D-NM) public health order restricting the Second Amendment in Albuquerque, according to the Associated Press.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Grisham issued an emergency order suspending the constitutional right to carry firearms in public throughout Albuquerque and surrounding counties for at least 30 days following an uptick in gun violence.

The ban attacks open and concealed carry in public places like parks or sidewalks but will not apply to certain places such as private property, gun stores, or shooting ranges. New Mexico citizens aren’t entirely banned from transporting guns within the state but will need to keep the weapon in a trigger lock or other container, or else they will face a fine of up to $5,000.

The ban got pushback from both the left and right as Americans of all stripes realized the unconstitutionality of the order.

Anti-gun activist David Hogg took to X to point out the glaring problem in Grisham's order.

"I support gun safety but there is no such thing as a state public health emergency exception to the U.S. Constitution," Hogg wrote.

He wasn't the only Democrat to come out against the New Mexico governor's unconstitutional order with Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA), writing, "I support gun safety laws. However, this order from the Governor of New Mexico violates the U.S. Constitution. No state in the union can suspend the federal Constitution. There is no such thing as a state public health emergency exception to the U.S. Constitution."

With Democrats even standing up to Gov. Grisham, it's not looking good for the survival of her public health order or her political career.

State Republicans have already called for her impeachment over the tyrannical move that has led to many sheriffs coming out against it and refusing to enforce the governor's order.

"New Mexico State Representative Stefani Lord (R-NM-22) and John Block (R-NM-51) are calling for the impeachment of New Mexico's Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, after Grisham's emergency order that violates the constitutional rights of New Mexicans," a letter sent by the two lawmakers reads.

"This is an abhorrent attempt at imposing a radical, progressive agenda on an unwilling populous," Rep. Lord said in a statement. "Rather than addressing crime at its core, Governor Grisham is restricting the rights of law-abiding gun owners."

This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
