On Friday, a 4.8-magnitude earthquake hit the East Coast at approximaetly 10:23 AM EST, with shocks felt as far south as Philadephia and as far north as Boston. "We will be updating the public very soon with additional updates."

"A 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit west of Manhattan and has been felt throughout New York," Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) wrote on X. "My team is asssessing impacts and any damage that may have occurred, and we will update the public throughout the day."

Due to the earthquake, the FAA has ordered a groundstop at the JFK Airport in New York and the Newark Airport in New Jersey.

This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
