On Sunday, a fight between former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and 2024 Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie (R-NJ) broke out into the open after the former New Jersey governor argued that Carlson was "wrong" on his stance on the Russo-Ukrainian war.
Chrstie joined ABC News' George Stephanopoulos to discuss the recent GOP candidate summit hosted by Carlson on Friday where the host interviewed a number of Republican presidential hopefuls. During those discussions, US funding of Ukraine came up repeatedly leading to candidates landing either on the side of increasing funding or calling for an end to the war.
Stephanopoulos asked Christie what he would tell Carlson if he had attended the event. The former governor explained that he "would have said, you’ve always been wrong about this, Tucker, and you’re still wrong."
"In fact, what’s going on is this is a proxy war with China," Christie argued. "The Chinese are funding the Russian war by buying Russian oil. They’re coordinating with the Iranians to provide lethal weapons to the Russian army, and we can decide when to have this conflict."
"Right now, the Ukrainians are willing to fight this fight for themselves if they have our support to be able to win it," he continued. "If the Chinese watch us back away from Ukraine as Tucker Carlson and others would advocate, believe me, the next move will be Taiwan."
In response to this argument, Tucker Carlson took to Twitter that same day to call for the 60-year-old to sit down with him on his show 'Tucker on Twitter.'
"Sounds like this could use a longer conversation," Carlson began. "We just asked [Chris Christie] to sit down and explain his views on Ukraine. He refused."
"You hate to think that Chris Christie is a blustery coward who plays the tough guy with sycophants at ABC but won’t answer real questions, but who knows? We hope he reconsiders," the host concluded.

The FAMiLY Leadership summit, co-hosted by The Blaze, allowed Americans to hear directly from the candidates including Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), former Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC), Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), former Vice President Mike Pence (R-IN), Vivek Ramaswamy, and former Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R-AR).
Each candidate sat down for a 30 minute interview with Carlson which led to various viral moments that led to candidates either humiliating themselves, like Vice President Pence, or gaining more support, like Vivek Ramaswamy.
The forum was one of the best opportunities for Republican primary voters to hear directly from candidates on questions that actually matter to the future of the party and country.
