BLM Doubles Down On Defunding Police On 10 Year Anniversary, Calls For Holiday Named After Themselves

On Thursday, Black Lives Matter celebrated their 10th anniversary by vowing to “redouble” on their far-left fight to defend the police and push equity programs in America, also asking for July 13th to be formally declared as “Black Lives Matter Day.”

The official Twitter account for the organization tweeted out the message, “Today is our movement's 10 year anniversary! We've already moved mountains together in the last 10 years alone – and we can continue to do so,” alongside images celebrating the decade mark.

One picture also featured a Facebook post from one of the founders Alicia Garza where she wrote “black people. I love you. I love us. Our lives matter” in response to the death of Trayvon Martin.

The picture also showed a message from another co-founder, Patrisse Cullors, who has since been removed from the organization for several scandals involving misappropriations of funds. Her original message read, “declaration: black bodies will no longer be sacrificed for the rest of the world’s enlightenment. i am done. i am so done. trayvon, you are loved infinitely.”

The organization did not stop there though, following up with another subtweet, writing, “To honor 10 years of BLM we are calling to make July 13th National #BlackLivesMatterDay to honor the countless Black folks who have been injured, attacked, murdered, and impacted by police and vigilante violence.”

“This National Day in conjunction with our 10 year anniversary is a reminder that not only will our work never stop; but that it's constantly evolving,” the final tweet read.

BLM has been slowly sinking back into obscurity since its monumental rise in 2020 over the death of George Floyd. Polling from just a few weeks ago shows that fewer people support the organization than they used to alongside more people opposing the group, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer

The organization has also been struggling to get near the number of donations it once had, having an 88 percent drop in donations in 2022 compared to 2020 when George Floyd was killed, per the DC Enquirer. The intense misuse of funds within the organization may have fueled its downfall.

The tweets from BLM are the same thing you’d expect from an online personality struggling with the idea they’re no longer the hot thing. The organization has fallen off a cliff in terms of relevance and they are completely unwilling to admit as much. While the name still can carry a lot of meaning with it, the organization itself seems to have lost that ability.
